Gardner High - Clubs

Art Club - Ms. Talbot

The Art Club promotes the development of the student's artistic ability through painting, drawing, and ceramics, between other assorted arts. Student's work will be present to the school in an annual exposition at the end of the school year.

Meets Monday

Dance Club - Coach Masters and Ms. Tyers

The Dance Club is an activity that works to teach that dance is a unique art form calling for the integration of body, mind, and spirit. The student is exposed to vital aspects of the art as a practitioner, creator, and observer in this club, while learning various forms of dancing, focusing mostly on classical, modern and jazz dancing styles, the latter two more than the first. The Dance club members will hold performances and be part of National High School dance competitions.

Debate Team - Mr. Stewart

Members of the debate team learn how to argue the pros and cons of current political and ethical issues. Team members are provided the opportunity to test their speaking skills at competitive tournaments held each month

Chorus - Ms. Ocampo

The Chorus is open to every student. The repertoire of the club includes classical, folk, and pop tunes. The student will receive instruction in sight-singing, reading music and voice, improving and developing their voices. There will be annual public performances at all concerts and school events.

French Club - Mr. Robinson

Parlez vous Français? Mais Oui! Then come join the French Club. What? You don't speak French but you would like to learn more about Francophone cultures? Great! You're welcome to join as well. The students participate in various activities, including movie screenings, cooking demonstrations and French games.

Newspaper: "The Voice" - Ms. Peterson

"The Voice" is the school's newspaper. It publicizes and comments on the activities and events that take place at Gardner High School and the community and all kinds of articles submitted by students regarding current issues happening in the country and the world. Students who enjoy writing or photography are invited to join the staff and non-members are invited to write occasional articles for the paper.

Photography Club - Ms Talbot

The Photography Club is a recent activity or Gardner High School and will be open to any student interested in discovering the 'art' behind photography. It works as a practical supplement to the Photography class but students not enrolled in that class can still be a part of the club.

Radio Station: "W-GHS" - Mr. Willi

"W-GHS" is the student's radio voice and it provides air space to students interested in radio broadcast. Provides daily news regarding the school and the community, contests, original students radio programs (usually of an hour or half an hour) and music from all genres to all tastes. Membership is limited. Students are invited to make suggestions and music requests.

Science Club - Ms. Mahoney and Ms. Kaman

The Science Club is for all students who are interested in science. The club discusses current topics in science and members have the opportunity to become involved in science competitions and research projects.

SADD (Students Against Driving Drunk) - Ms. Parker

Gardner's SADD chapter is a local branch of a national organization. Its members consist of students interested in helping other students refrain from making destructive decisions, i.e. driving while intoxicated. It promotes activities concerning manifestations and lectures against alcohol drinking among others.

Student Council

The Student Council is the "leadership council" of Gardner High School. It provides services and guidance to both the high school and the community it represents. Student Council acts as a liaison between the student body and the faculty and administration. It provides a forum for student expression and all students are welcome to attend their general meetings.

"Words and Images" - Mr. Jackson

"Words and Images" is Gardner High's literary magazine. All students may contribute poems, short stories, and artwork through their English or Art teachers. Staff members select and edit the contributions. The magazine is published once a year in the spring.

Meets Thursday

Yearbook - Ms. Peterson

Members of the club are involved in all aspects of the yearbook's production: photography, writing copy, layout, design, typing, and seeking advertisements. The yearbook serves as a cumulative diary for the faculty, staff and student body of Gardner High School
